Download new Flex 2.0 Beta 2 – yes Beta 2 is here!

Check out Adobe Labs and download the entire new set of builds for the Flex 2 product line, including the new Flex Data Services (formerly Flex Enterprise Services). The new Flex Builder and Flex framework releases include a mass of changes which in my opionion just continues to make Flex the superhero in the Web 2.0 realm

Whilst I’m on the topic of Flex 2 and new releases on labs, there are some great ActionScript 3.0 Libraries available for connecting to third party Web Services and REST based HTTP services such as Flickr, Mappr, RSS and Atom Libraries, Odeo and YouTube. There’s also an updated release of FlexUnit for Flex 2. And a win win for the Flex and Ajax developers alike, the Flex Ajax Bridge enables integration between Flex and Ajax/DHTML code running in the browser.

And again, Adobe have risen to the challenge and are committed to making new products and projects available to the public. There was a new build of their Lightroom project, a tool for professional photographers, and more recently the release of the XMP Toolkit 4.0, a technology which allows you to embed metadata about a file into the file itself. The final release of the XMP Toolkit will be open source.
