That’s right, Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0. What a fantastic product for basic (and even not so basic) image manipulation, editing, colour/tone/lighting adjustments, and even creative ways to present your photos. Of course there’s more to it, so check out the feature tour at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelwin/.

To demonstrate the powerful sharing capabilities I created this gallery of my new car, and had it uploaded to the server in less than 5 minutes. That included importing the photos from the camera, selecting the images to include in the gallery, creating the gallery and uploading the files. Fantastic!

The Gallery is pretty cool, but it took a loooong time to download. How big is the swf? Maybe it is the server it comes from? Did you reduce the file size of the pictures or upload direct from the camera?

  2. Is it possible to make the images load dynamically at run time? Your example took 5mins to load. Not a scalable solution if you publish like 100 images for each album (which would be quite typical of what people do when they come back from vacation).

  3. Yeah that’s one thing I have noticed as well. It’s probably the server it’s being served from as it is not a commercial host (might be time to move it elsewhere). The total size of the folder was less than 2mb. When you create the gallery the image’s are resized to 640×480 so on an average they’re about 80kb each.

Tariq - very valid point. I’ll see what I can find out for you. I too do agree that 100 images would be a typical case for the general holiday goer.

    Stay tuned for more info!
